When I was commuting to an office every day, fashion became my hobby. Our well-dressed CEO often referenced fashion brands while discussing our marketing materials, so I studied menswear just as I would Javascript.
The problem was finding something decent to wear in my size.
A study showed that 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. Men aren't any luckier, and short men have it the worst.
I'm 5'7" tall and weigh 155 pounds, which means off-the-rack clothes fit like a glove -IF- I can find my size.
Short men often resort to buying the smallest size available, which in the US is typically a men's 38 (Italian 48).
The problem with this is that a men's 38 is cut for someone about the same height as a man buying a size 40 or 42, which means visiting a tailor: expensive and time-consuming.

The only exceptions to this rule are those men whose appearance figures into their work: salesmen. A salesmen knows the difference between a cheap suit and one that impresses a client...although this also falls under the category of "dating".
