Wes@Play - Toys - Sony Clie PEG-N760C
01/19/2002
Pros: Best color screen, bright backlight, responsive
Cons: Price, bulkier than Palm V, Mac connection requires add'l software
Amount Paid (US$): 450 Fun with the ERS-210
I lost my Palm V and bought this as a replacement.
SCREEN
The screen is by far the best of any PDA I've seen: brighter and sharper than Palm, less blue cast than Compaq. Color photos are crystal clear, and games really come alive.
CASE
The case feels about 1/8" thicker than my Palm V and a few ounces heavier, but I can still carry it in my suit jacket pocket without it feeling strange. The navigation wheel allows for tap-less scrolling & the "back" button does exactly
what you think it does.
MP3 PLAYER
I'm not a huge fan of the bundled headphones, since the cord tends to get tangled up. The MP3 player app is very easy to use, although I only use the PDA player since I have a Mac.
MAC USERS NOTE:
Sony doesn't support Macs, so you'll need to buy the "Missing Sync" software (www.markspace.com/missingsync.html). Version 2.1 supports the memory stick, which shows up as a drive on your Mac desktop. It's very to convert to MP3 in iTunes then transfer the files over to the memory stick.
PURCHASE:
I took advantage of a free shipping deal from sonystyle.com, and it arrived in less than 24 hours with a free leather case. My rebate and free 32 meg memory stick still haven't arrived from Sony though.
