This documentary is either the cleverest farce, or a tragedy indeed. A man of little talent and little hope of success strives to make the Great American Movie, and no one tells him his destiny is failure. His friends and family are accomplices. Everytime one of my friends or acquaintances says, "What I really want to do is make films," I recommend this movie.
The DVD includes audio commentary by the filmmakers and the subjects, which supports the theory that this is a real story; tragedy, thickly layered.
