King's Fish House
100 W. Broadway
Long Beach, CA 90802
Rating: **

A busy, noisy restaurant on busy, noisy Pine and Broadway. Admittedly, I think my companion and I ordered poorly. I had the Maryland soft-shell crabs deep fried in a pecan crust, which tasted not unlike nutty bandaids. My companion had halibut, which smelled pretty fishy. Doesn't sound too good does it? Well, I'd be willing to give them a second chance, mostly because judging from the muscular couple seated across from us, this is a gay dating destination. 08/02

Admittedly, I went here on New Year's Eve with a prix fixe menu that didn't include any seafood. We had melting, perfectly sauteed fois gras with a smoky bacon-flecked sauce (I have a suspicion that this is the same chef that works at La Papillon). The meat that followed was okay. 05/02
