Eats - BBQ

Cities covered: Campbell, San Jose

You can basically ignore everything on this page because a) I don't like BBQ, and b) I rate everything by what my mood is at the time I ate.

Andy's Bar-b-que
Another reader says that Andy's hasn't shut down, even though the old location was torn down. The new location is somewhere on the El Camino.

Food: **
Price: $
I went on one of my first San Jose dates here for breakfast. Partly gay-owned and partly gay waitored, it remains an old standby for breakfast. I've only actually had their BBQ once, and it was tasty (I am not a BBQ afficianado). Great breakfasts, snappy and fun service, and you can pick up a pie on your way out.

Race Street Seafood Kitchen
247 Race St.
San Jose CA
408/287-6280

Food: *
A local hangout, famous for its weekend barbeques and impressive (for a non-Chinese grocery store in San Jose) selection of seafood. The food isn't particularly good, but it's a pleasant and neighborly place to mingle with every type of person and persona, pick up a quick bite, and maybe a pound of tiger shrimp. 05/02
