Maintenance
This has been quite the month. I was laid off
in November, so I've been economizing wherever possible. That
probably should have included trying to find a cheaper mechanic
to fix my car, but I've had some really bad and really costly
experiences at non-authorized repair shops. Anyway...
I took the car back to Stevens Creek BMW, where
90% of my repairs and maintenance checks have been done. My
service rep was Marc Le Bas, who was very sympathetic about
my financial situation. Still, the list was long. I chose to
only repair those items that were fairly serious.

The repairs that I opted out of were...
- Replace rear brakes
- Repair ground wire on back taillights
- Repair oil level warning sensor
Apparently, having the ground wire for the taillights burn
out is a fairly common repair. The bad news is that it wasn't
a simple fix and would have cost a few hundred dollars.
All repairs were done on time. The shuttle driver this time
(they require 10 days notice for a loaner) was very good at
his job. Nice guy, as was Marc.
Next time, I may opt for non-dealership service depending
on my pocketbook.
