December 25

Drove from San Francisco to San Jose to Sacramento, then back to San Jose and back to San Francisco.

With two passengers in the car, I did notice that acceleration is a bit slower, but the ride smooths about a bit. This is probably the longest trip I've taken with a passenger in the back seat, and he seems to have survived. I'm always a bit concerned, because the seats can be fairly tight and the shoulder harness seatbelt looks fairly uncomfortable. I'm guessing on the latter since I've never actually ridden in the back seat.

December 28

I'm pulled over by the San Jose police for possible drunk driving. The nice thing about having a BMW in these situations is that when the cop said "I noticed that your tail light was burned out." I knew full well that he was lying. However he wasn't lying about the missing license plate, so I complied with all of this requests and passed all of the tests. I did have a blood alcohol of .02, which sounds about right considering I hadn't had a drink in over an hour, but it shook me up a bit.

NOTE FOR SAN JOSE LOCALS: It looks like the San Jose Police Department now does rookie training on Santa Clara near the new city hall now, instead of over by the Arena on Stockton. There were two older police officers and two guys who couldn't have been more than 25 years old.
