Less than 1,000 miles to the next maintenance check. I'm still deciding whether to take it to the dealership or let another mechanic take a look. I'm sure that the BMW check will be another $500+.

My Christmas present to myself will be a replacement wheel to get rid of the annoying vibration when driving over 80 mph, caused by a dent I put in the rim when I hit an oddly shaped parking structure curb (and stupidly decided to try to go over it vs. backing up). Duhhhhh.

A site visitor wrote in asking about tires. Yes, the tires I have are actually summer tires, but here in San Jose where a rain storm just isn't the same as one in, say, Houston, I can get away with this. I have felt some hydroplaning on asphalt highways doing 80+, but otherwise it's fine.
