I get my first speeding ticket. Ever. Here's the problem with owning a car that feels perfectly stable at 100+ mph: everything under 80 mph feels like a crawl.

The experience was fairly painless. The CHP officers (there were two, so I'm guessing I was a training victim) were pleasant and the whole thing only took 15 mins. They wrote me up for doing 80 mph, which is a very good thing in California (driving 15 mph over the posted speed limit comes with nasty consequences).

This is pretty ridiculous for a $50K car. The letter BMW sent out basically says 'get this fixed immediately or your car may ignite.'

I called Steven's Creek BMW in San Jose, and they couldn't order the part because I didn't have my VIN number handy. It will takes 2-3 weeks for them to get the part regardless, but since I need to go in from my 15,000 checkup soon, I'll kill two birds.
