Problems:
- Passenger side then both xenon headlights refuse to ignite
- Taillights go out intermittently
For the first time,
I didn't take my car to Stevens Creek BMW for repairs. I choose German Motor
Specialists (380 Aleso Ave, Sunnyvale, CA (408) 522-9520) which is about a
mile from my office.
They couldn't diagnose the problem with the headlights,
which still occasionally flick, but they did fix the problem with the taillights
not working. Apparently, BMW circulated a notice about this problem to the
dealerships, which is probably why Stevens Creek BMW wanted to charge me $400+
to fix it.
German Motor Specialists did a diagnostic, repaired the trunk
harness wiring and both bulb carriers, and changed out a wiper blade for $567.66.
Not cheap, but the actual trunk harness fix was only $279.
The wiper fix was necessary (although a splurge at $46) since
the blade was starting to scratch the windshield.
