I had to replace my rear passenger tire because of a slow leak. I probably messed it up when I rode up on the curb going through a truly badly designed parking garage in Emeryville. Anyway....
I went ahead and replaced both rear tires because no one apparently has the Continental Contitours. I put Contisports on instead and paid through the nose ($189 per tire) because I wasn't willing to wait and get them through Tire Rack, which generally has the lowest prices. The Contisports have a pretty low rating, but they seem fine on dry and rain-soaked pavement.
I suppose the next time the stock goes up I can get a decent set of tires. My boss is convinced that having different tires front and rear isn't a good idea. He's probably right.
NOTE: I do not recommend the Tires Plus store at 2460 E. El Camino Real in San Mateo. They were slow, tried to add a bunch of useless "insurance," and generally seemed pretty shady.
