Started a new job at Saba Software, a company in Redwood City (Redwood Shores district) that makes learning, talent management, and performance software.

Unfortunately, this involves a 35 mile commute (70 miles roundtrip), which is about equal to my old commute.

Noticed some odd clicking sound coming from the back of the driver's side of the car when raising or lowering the top. Coincidentally, a visitor sent this note:

Added one quart of Mobil One 5w 30.

Now that I'm back to a 70-mile a day commute, I can tell you that the Bridgestone Potenzas I installed a while back were a good investment—decent rainy weather traction for summer tires, and they're so much quieter than the Michelins. When they're underinflated (which is often the case given my lack of time for maintenance) they tend to follow freeway grooves (those thin grooves they cut into concrete freeways to help wet weather traction), but it's very slight.

Rainy day! The problem with having your windows replaced at a shop other than a dealership apparently is that they can't get the windows seated right. As I mentioned earlier, both of my passenger windows were busted out South of Market in San Francisco. The resulting replacements don't seal properly, so water drains into the map pockets on very stormy days. The last rainstorm was the worst, when about 1" of water gathered on the driver's side, fusing all of my cds together...which is okay, because I was tired of them.
